I’ve published numerous articles and received feedback that’s been both positive and negative as can be expected in this industry but I have to say, I’ve never had criticism of my work placed on such notable blogs as MarketingPilgrim.com before (Ironically I used Andy from Marketing Pilgrim as an example of a good SEO in the article)

It appears that SEO’s are a bit disguntled by my assertion in the article I published yesterday that one of the things you should look for in an SEO is that they be able to rank for their targeted phrases. This doesn’t seem to me to be a big leap of logic.

Because social media is new it is easy to hype, marketers do. While I too have hyped the interactive nature of blogs and the web, I find that connecting directly with the end targets and their interests is typically more predictable and more profitable than running strategies through sites like Digg. With that thought in mind, I asked if social media traffic is worth a cent.

Google slightly missed their Q4 whisper numbers, by a wider margin than some appreciate, due to gains associated with weak US dollar value. Paul Kedrosky stated that Google’s quarter over quarter gain due to exchange rates was $93 million, and year over year was $200 million.

One of my favorite Canadians in search (there’s so many, don’t make me choose!), Andrew Goodman, pointed me to a post by Jamie Roche of iMedia Connection - A ReDesign Worthy of Google De-listing. Mr Roche (who works with the supafly Jon Mendez if I’m not mistaken) had some good advice, sadly shrouded in long-past SEO mythology that deserves clearing up.
